General Data Protection Regulation

General Data Protection Regulation

After over four years of discussion, the new EU data protection framework take effect on 25 May 2018. It takes the form of a Regulation – the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation 2016/6791), and regulates the processing by an individual, a company or an organisation of personal data relating to individuals in the EU.

The GDPR will be directly applicable and aims at strengthening the protection of the individual’s right to personal data protection, reflecting the nature of data protection as a fundamental right for the EU. This implies a change in how we all treat and handle data, including associations and private landlords.

UIPI has papered a Briefing Note and a “GDPR Toolbox” to prepare our members and help them be compliant.
