UIPI Executive Committee had an important meeting in Larnaca Cyprus, organized by the Cyprus Land and Property Owners Association. UIPI officials met with Cypriot minister of Justice Mr. Kypros Chrysostomides, asking him to abolish the medieval system of rents control on the island, with Nicosis'a Mayor Mrs Eleni Mavrou (see photo), and gave a press conference and a Declaration asking for political solution of the Cyprus problem, which will include the full restitution of real estate property to its legal owners...
A friendly settlement which includes compensation of 262.500 euros, has been reached between the Polish Government and Mrs Maria Hutten-Czapska, after the European Court of Human Rights' extremely important unanimous judgment in the "pilot case" of Hutten-Czapska v. Poland (appl. no. 35014/97), in which the Court considered that the rent control system in Poland violates the property rights of 100.000 landowners in Poland...
A strong UIPI team participated in the EU Sustainable Energy Week Congress in Brussels (28-31.1.2008), and especially to all discussions about energy savings in buildings. The President of UIPI Stratos PARADIAS speaking in the conference of the "NEXT STEPS", stressed that property owners must be informed, convinced and assisted in order to overcome the huge difficulties and implement the EPBD in the existing buildings of Europe.

POMIDA, the Hellenic Property Federation, presided by Stratos PARADIAS, along with is 25th Anniversary, celebrated last January in Athens a great victory in the field of real estate property capital taxation, which is good news for property owners all over Europe...

UIPI has declared the 10th of December as World Property Day and for 2007 has celebrate it on December 8th in Tirana, Albania, in a large public meeting organized by the National Albanian Association of Dispossesed Property Owners "Property with Justice". The President of UIPI Stratos PARADIAS declared that all immovable property confiscated by the Albanian state, must be restituted to their rightful owners.
During the last meetings of UIPI five new members joined in: The Parcelhusejernes Landsforening (PL) representing many thousands of home and small property owners of Denmark, the Central Union of Property Owners of Estonia, presided by Urmas Reinsalu, member of the Estonian National Parliament, the Asociatea Pentru Proprieta Privata (APP) from Romania, the Network for Property Restitution from Serbia. Also the SUVLAH from Croatia, came back to UIPI. We warmly welcome all our new members!
UIPI concluded succesfully on June 16, 2007 its 39th International Congress in Bern, that dealt with "building, housing and energy saving, now and in future". The Congress was organized by the Hauseigentumerverband Schweiz (HEV) and its President Dr. Rudolf Steiner.
