Press Release
Rent de-regulation urgently
needed.
The
international
In most
European countries still exists a rent legislation which is ineffective and not serving
anymore the
aim of an adequate supply of houses for lower income groups.
Market
research in several European countries shows that these forms of rent
regulation
disturb the
market forces, leading to a lack of investments in Real Estate.
The
U.I.P.I. supports the idea that a certain financial protection should be given
to lower
income
groups in order to make housing accessible for them, but, at the same time,
establish the fact most forms of rent regulation in the European countries are
not the adequate and
modern
answer to this problem.
The U.I.P.I.
also urgently calls upon the Governments of the Eastern European countries
to give
high priority to the reprivatisation of Real Estate
for private house and property owners in order to get a clear and efficient
market situation as soon as possible.
The
uncertainties in this field frustrates the necessary renovation and renewal of
buildings
in these countries.
